SchoolMint Hosts Webinars During National School Choice Week

BY The SchoolMint Collective

Webinars on Tuesday, January 24 and Thursday, January 26 will provide district leaders with best practices, strategies, and solutions for implementing a school choice program

SAN FRANCISCO, January 18, 2017 – SchoolMint, the leading provider of cloud-based student enrollment and school choice systems for PreK-12 district, charter, and independent schools, is hosting two free webinars coinciding with National School Choice Week (NSCW) to help district leaders successfully navigate the school choice process. The webinars, taking place on the week of January 22, 2017, will provide expert commentary about various aspects of school choice, from implementing a common enrollment system to ensuring a positive family experience.

The first webinar, “The Rocky yet Rewarding Road to Unified Enrollment,” is being held on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at 3 pm ET/12 pm PT. During the webinar, two national experts on K-12 enrollment systems – Betheny Gross from the Center on Reinventing Public Education (CRPE) and national K-12 enrollment consultant Shannon Fitzgerald – will explore best practices in transitioning to a charter-, district-, or city-wide common enrollment system. This will include determining system readiness; assessing governance, operational, and political considerations; and creating metrics for defining success.

The second webinar, “Transforming the School Choice Experience,” will take place on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 2 pm ET/11 am PT. Led by SchoolMint’s School Partnerships Manager, this webinar will look at tools which can improve the family school choice experience and increase participation in school choice programs. This is a particularly timely topic for district leaders nationwide who are looking for ways to increase participation in their school choice programs and to provide parents with greater access to a more diverse set of high-quality school options for their children.

“School choice participation requires easy, equitable access to information about high-quality school options; a transparent, simple enrollment process; and a centralized reporting system to monitor demand. District and charter leaders are looking to improve the end-to-end enrollment process for parents and staff with better tools and systems to enable participation,” said Jinal Jhaveri, SchoolMint Founder and CEO. “These two webinars, coinciding with NSCW, will provide attendees with practical, best practice solutions and strategies for transitioning to, and strengthening, school choice programs in their own cities.”

NSCW, taking place on January 22-28, 2017, shines a positive spotlight on effective education options for every child. The goal of NSCW is to raise public awareness of all types of education options for children. These options include traditional public schools, public charter schools, magnet schools, online learning, private schools, and homeschooling.

Districts and charter school networks nationwide have partnered with SchoolMint to streamline their unified enrollment and school choice processes. These organizations include Camden City School District, Indianapolis Public Schools, Oakland Unified School District, Massachusetts Public Charter School Association, and New York City Charter School Center, among others.
